Hi I was wondering if anyone had any information on Animas Overlook
Park? I was there last year and It was closed. I'm going to be in
Durango Colorado again this March and would like to visit some of the
boxes located in that park if it is open and the boxes are still there.
Thanks
Carol

Hi Carol-
That road isn't plowed, so it only opens after spring melt-off. We can
be dry in town but still have large drifts further up that keep it
closed. Usually March is a bit early for the melt above Durango, but
this year has been very dry so far.
That's a long weay of saying, "I don't know".
All 5 of those boxes were alive and well as of November.

Ok. At least that lets me know I should make an effort to go out
there. We usually go there on our spring break every year but since I
don't ski, Letterboxing gives me something to do.
I'll give it a shot.
What about the other boxes on 550 heading towards Durango Mountain
Resort. I think I read about two of them that were placed in Oct of
05. Do you think that they may be accessable, assuming there isn't
any large snowfalls?
Thanks for your help.

Yes! Both of the new letterboxes on the Haflin Creek trail are
highly recommended and should be mostly snow-free in March. I'm sure
they would LOVE to have you visit.

YEA! That's great! You've been most helpful. Are there any other new
boxes I should try while I'm in the area?
Thanks!

The only ones I can think of that you may not have found before are two
newer ones by Jacobi. But they are over by Wolf Creek Pass, nearer
Pagosa Springs.
